Finally! The greatly anticipated short-film was published last week on October 12th, 2018.
It all began several months ago when Z Factor was having a discussion with her friend, known on the channel as Tiger. Tiger was talking about her ex-boyfriend, who happened to have the name "Sam." Jokingly, Z Factor remarked how funny it was that he was named "Sam" since so many characters and people with the name "Sam" seem so nice. Z Factor laughed and told Tiger how funny it would be if they did a skit about how there's this one Sam who is a terrible person in a pretend world where all "Sam"s are inherently celebrated. Thus the idea spun into a news-story gone horribly wrong.
Z Factor began working on the project and had a great idea to collaborate with fellow YouTuber, TheBigZilla17. She asked him if he was interested in the role of "Real-Live Sam" but she knew scheduling for that would be a bit complicated. He agreed to do it though! Once she had her cast in mind, she sat down to actually write the script. Unsure if it was good or not, she consulted a supporter of the channel, FlyEmmy, who said it was the best one she ever read from Z Factor. Thrilled and encouraged, Z Factor began planning the production.
In August they got to film with Zilla, doing all of his scenes first. Z Factor wanted to get the rest of the shooting done shortly after, but was delayed with other scheduling conflicts until finally in October things fell into place. They were able to have Z-Factor Studios' 50th subscriber, Starlightz, come in and play as "News Director."
With all the necessary footage, and other things keeping her busy, Z Factor tasked C.F.R. to record Shadost's voice-over for the role of Alfonzo, which is featured in the commercial break. The recording went very well and Z Factor was immensely pleased with the results and went to work editing. The editing is one of Z Factor's favorite parts of the film-making process and thought this was one of her best jobs yet.
Then, after months from an idea into a script, into filming, and into editing...the video was alive and published! We hope you enjoyed watching National Sam Appreciation Day as much as the cast and crew enjoyed putting it all together, and stay tuned for our other projects!
